Shaikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has instructed an Emirati newborn boy, whose Iranian mother died at a private hospital shortly after delivery here, to be shifted to Latifa hospital in Dubai.
The baby, named Hamad, suffered serious complications according to Hassan Kaidi, his father.
Late on Wednesday, the distraught father posted an emergency 'call for help' on snapchat that was widely shared by Emirati anchor Munzir Al Mazki, who has thousands of followers on social media.
The 30-year-old father said he had passed through a very tough time with his entire family after the sudden death of his wife just 10 minutes after giving birth to their second child.
"This is our second child who was born eight years after his elder sister," he said. "We are all shocked, and my daughter keeps asking me about her mother."
Earlier, the baby boy was shifted from the private hospital to the Saqr government hospital in Ras Al Khaimah as requested by the father and his relatives.
"My boy Hamad was suffering due to lack of oxygen and a serious complication in his brain, before he was shifted to Latifa hospital in Dubai as instructed by Shaikh Latifa."
The distressed father, who is based in the Jazeera Al Hamra or Red Island, RAK, and working in Dubai, earlier said the gynecologist checked his wife an hour after delivery, but she bled excessively, and passed away."
"I have lodged a complaint with the Maamura police station against the hospital, and the forensic lab has collected samples to identify the reasons behind her death," he said.
A police source told Khaleej Times that the RAK Medical Zone and the Public Prosecution are investigating the case. "Such cases are directly referred to the public prosecution."
