ARY Digital set to launch new channel

ARY Digital Network is all set to launch its new 24-hour family entertainment channel, ARY Digital - Middle East on August 20.

The channal targets the huge Asian expatriate population residing in the Middle East.

ARY Digital - Middle East will be launched with the live transmission of the cricket series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, to be played in Pakistan. The series comprises three Test matches and five One-Day Internationals to be played in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan.


CEO ARY Digital Network, Salman Iqbal, said that the channel will offer the best mix of Indian and Pakistani entertainment, with programmes ranging from popular TV serials, internationally acclaimed game shows, music, Bollywood movies and cricket.

"Cricket on ARY Digital is part of our committment to providing viewers in the UAE and the Middle East with all forms of entertainment," Mr Iqbal said.

He also said that ARY Digital has recently acquired exclusive rights in a deal with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) worth over $42 million and the channel was all set to feature some of the most exciting cricket series and One-Day Internationals for viewers in the UAE and the Middle East.

Mr Iqbal said that later ARY Digital will telecast Pakistan vs South Africa and Pakistan vs New Zealand series to be played in Pakistan later this year.

ARY Digital Network has already featured some of the major cricketing events including ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 for its huge audience base in Europe.

ARY Digital has exclusive rights for all ICC tournaments for Europe next year. "If all goes well with Indo-Pak peace process, in February next year ARY Digital will also be broadcasting a long awaited series between India and Pakistan exclusively for this region," said Mr Iqbal.

Apart from cricket, the channel is producing several entertainment and interative programmes from its studios located in Dubai Media City.

The network has recently launched two channels ARY Digital - Just for India, a 24-hour entertainment channel and The Musik, a 24-hour music channel.
