Residents don't have to wait in long queues for Indian consular services at IVS centres in Dubai, thanks to a Grade 11 student in Dubai.
Krisna Bhargava has conceived a mobile app named QTicket, through which residents can now pre-book their appointments at various IVS centres that provide consular services in Dubai.
QTicket was officially launched by Indian Consul-General Vipul on Wednesday. The app that is downloadable on all android and Apple devices will be active from Sunday.
Explaining the thought behind his brainchild, Bhargava said he was frustrated to see people queuing up for long hours at an IVS Centre in Dubai.
"I went there with my father and there was lot of confusion and chaos. I thought, in this age and time, it is unusual for people to go through this hassle to get some simple tasks done. People were served on a first-come-first basis and there was no online booking system available," Bhargava told Khaleej Times.
With a nod of approval from the CGI, Bhargava approached Dubai-based tech company ICC Loyalty, which supported his idea. Within six months, QTicket was ready for launch.
"I did not have the skillset and resources to develop the app. But I spent a lot of time working with the company to get it ready. We also had test runs with friends and family to see whether there were glitches," said Bhargava.
Amit Narang, founder and CEO of ICC Loyalty, said the app was developed as part of the company's CSR initiative.
"It is a simple application with high impact considering the huge number of Indian expats in the UAE. This app will allow people to book an appointment from the comfort of their homes and turn up a few minutes before at the IVS centre," said Narang.
Vipul told Khaleej Times that the new system and mobile application is an entirely community-driven initiative and can be used only in Dubai.
"QTicket is applicable for attestation services rendered at the IVS centres. We will now have an online appointment system as well as a mobile application.
