Pursuant to the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has ordered changing the name of the Mushrif Central Park into the Mother of the Nation Park.
This comes in recognition of the national and social march of giving by Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
The Mushrif Central Park is one of the leading touristic, recreational and sports facilities in Abu Dhabi. It has been recently inaugurated after a comprehensive renovation, arising from the state's keenness on boosting the cultural and aesthetic scenery in the capital, within UAE's march to prosperity in all economic, cultural, architectural and humanitarian fields. The move was aimed at protecting the environment and providing excellent services to the society.
The park encompasses a number of innovative facilities including the Garden of Wisdom, which enshrines the legacy of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and on its walls, his timeless words are engraved to remain as a lantern for the generations to come.
It further includes an open theater, the house of shadows, the garden of plants that contains dozens of species of local and tropical plants and shrubs, in addition to the children's garden, which features a giant screen to display movies, an interactive fountain, and a special corner for pets.
