An 82-year-old man has been sentenced to three months in jail by Court of First Instance for forging the copy of a trade licence.
According to the prosecution records, the Emirati man tampered with some details of licence of a printing house he co-owned with a compatriot, which was issued by the Department of Economic Development.
He was accused of changing the company's status from a limited liability one to an individual company and omitting his partner's name from the copy.
His aim was to evict his partner from a co-owned unit, as claimed by the latter.
The incident was reported to Naif police on June 15, last year.
The complaint was filed by the defendant's partner who said that he was surprised to learn that the accused had changed the status of the printing house they co-owned from a limited liability company to an individual company.
"I entered in partnership of 25 per cent with him in 2005. I was also a partner in the plots of land related to the printing house.
"He removed my name on the forged licence copy and then submitted it to the Dubai Municipality," the 47-year-old Emirati partner said, during the investigation.
The partner added that the accused filed a complaint against him at the municipality to have him evicted from the unit he occupied and which belonged to the house.
"He had the power and water facilities cut off the unit after he falsely claimed I was just a tenant and not a co-owner."
