A 72-year-old admitted in court that he kissed and touched a female stranger in Dubai museum after he pretended to take a photo with her.
The Court of First Instance was told that the Indian man, a carpenter, asked the woman, a Chinese, if he could pose for a picture with her. But all of a sudden he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, kissed her on the cheek and groped her.
He admitted to a molestation charge when he appeared in the Court of First Instance on Monday claiming that he was unaware about the reason behind his behavior. "I must have been out of my mind then. I suffer of heart problems and I have not breached the law here before".
The complainant sought the help of a security guard at the museum when the incident happened to her on August 23, last year.
"I was on the shift around 1:10 pm when a Chinese woman came to me crying. She was very sad and looked scared," the Nigerian guard, 36, told the prosecutor.
"She asked whether any police were present around. I asked her what was wrong. She said that an old man touched her".
The guard took her to the administration. An internal probe was conducted concerning the visitor's complaint in which her statement was taken.
The court will announce a ruling on February 13.
