A six-year-old Pakistani girl drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel in Ras Al Khaimah.
Major Abdullah Ali Anun Al Nuaimi, acting chief of the city police station, said the mishap took place in one of the resorts of the emirate on Wednesday night.
"The young girl didn't make it and was declared dead on the spot."
Initial investigations show that the girl's mother went swimming with her daughter and son, he added.
"The mother was busy taking care of her son for some time when the little girl began to drown."
People present at the pool tried to provide first aid to the little girl until ambulances arrived.
"The body of the victim was shifted to the morgue of the hospital for burial by relatives."
Major Al Nuaimi urged all parents to keep an eye on their kids while swimming.
"Young kids should never ever be let unattended in a swimming pool all the time."
Kids should also be given access to the low level pools that fit them, he underlined.
"Lifeguards should also be present as long as the pool is open, and all hotels and resorts should specify special pools for little kids."
As per the forensic report, "the heart of victim stopped pulsing, and the medical team in the hospital emergency department could not revive her."
A week ago, a 1.7-year-old Emirati toddler was pronounced dead days after drowning in home swimming pool at Khat area in of Ras Al Khaimah.
The Pakistani girl is the fourth to breathe her last in the country in almost one month.
The first was a nine-year-old boy who drowned at the beach behind the Saudi Institute in Ras Al Khaimah on June 26.
The second was a young boy who died in Dubai after spending nine months in a coma after drowning in the swimming pool at his building.
The third was the 1.7-year-old Emirati girl, while the fourth was an eight-year-old Pakistani boy who drowned to death in a swimming pool in the third floor of a residential building at Al Majaz area in Sharjah on June 24 this year.
