A 54-year-old Arab man has been charged at a criminal court in Dubai for reportedly insulting an officer at a police station in the emirate.
Infuriated over a complaint lodged against him, the man allegedly threatened police officers, saying they made a mistake for asking him to come to answer questions. He also told them he could 'file a case against them in the UN', according to a report published by Al Bayan on Tuesday.
The man was required to respond to a report filed by a woman, who complained about "his bad behaviour during a phone call".
During the investigation of the public prosecution, the police officer said the defendant insulted him and refused to present his Emirates ID.
He added that the accused angrily threw documents onto his desk, as he argued that there had been a dispute between him and the female complainant.
When the police proceeded to handcuff him for insulting the cop and the rude behaviour, the man resisted and threatened to report them to senior government officials and the UN, according to the Al Bayan report.
