As many as 529 people have been fined for violating the environment in Ras Al Khaimah during the Eid holidays.
Ahmad Al Shehi, an advisor with the department of public services, said the tickets were issued by 28 environment patrols.
"Special attention had been given to random street slaughtering of sacrificial livestock. Some of the erring residents spotted were fined for dumping animal wastes on public roads."
Up to 72 staff inspectors had been deployed to ensure public compliance with set rules and regulations, Al Shehi added. "Most of the violations were spotted at the Jebel Jais mountain, which saw over 25,000 visitors from across the country during the Eid Al Adha holidays."
Littering, dumping wastes from vehicles, sewage leak, dumping animal wastes and slaughtering garbage topped the list of the violations registered. Up to 23 random slaughtering violations were spotted during the feast.
