The Sharjah Municipally has found 49 cases where people slaughtered their sheep outside abattoirs during Eid Al Adha.
Unspecialised workers who were found to be absconding and violating residence law did the slaughtering.
Mohammed Al Kaabi, head of Eid preparation committee at Sharjah Municpality said the unlicensed workers were refered to the concerned authorities for legal action. Officials also confiscated the tools used for slaughtering and also referred the slaughtered sheep for inspection. He said slaughtering took place in empty and dirty areas and in some internal roads.
He added that the municipality always conducts awareness campaigns about the harmful effects of slaughtering animals outside abattoirs. He said some of butchers slaughtered the animals in parking lots and deserted areas. He added that such action would caused contamination. Also, the tools used for slaughtering are not sterilised, he added.
