Lack of designated prayer rooms at the stations and insufficient number of card readers are two of the most common complaints registered by people who commute by the Dubai Metro.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has revealed this, reported Emarat Al Youm.
The other two key grouses of the Metro passengers included inadequate number of inspectors and silver card passengers riding in the Gold Class cabin.
These four common complaints have been identified from over 3,231 grouses lodged by people in 2017, the report points out.
"As the number one choice for public transport commuters, the Dubai Metro's over 200 million yearly passengers have been registering a number of their observations with the authority since its launch in 2009," said Mohamed Al Mudhrab, RTA director.
"These observations or complaints indicate the areas that need improvement and should be taken into consideration."
Regarding the lack of prayer rooms, Al Mudhrab said that Metro stations are most of the times connected to city hubs - which include malls and shopping centres - that have prayer rooms within. Also, there are quite a few mosques interspaced between the Metro stations, he added.
The authority has also taken into account that the number of Metro passengers is increasing by 20 per cent annually. The RTA has, therefore, commissioned nearly 50 new trains to meet the high demand for the transport.
He added that the card readers have been designed in compliance with the strict safety and security standards. However, during peak use in the morning and evening hours, passengers get the impression that there aren't enough machines installed, he underlined.
Another important complaint registered by commuters is disrespect of etiquette by the riders during peak hours, which cause people to jostle for space.
