The Dubai Health Authority has recorded more than 22,000 emergency cases across different hospitals during Ramadan.
The cases included heart attacks, strokes, complications of diabetes, car accidents, burns, stomach problems, bronchitis, asthma, food poisoning and gynecological emergencies.
The cases were dealt with promptly in line with the triage system followed by emergency departments, which ensure that most urgent cases are seen on priority basis.
The emergency departments of Rashid, Latifa, Hatta and Dubai Hospitals received these cases during the first 20 days of the holy month of Ramadan. All the emergency departments have been functioning round-the-clock all through the year and emergency cases were seen immediately up on arrival and prioritised as per urgency in line with international standards.
On average Rashid Hospital and Dubai Hospital received 450 cases each per day, while Latifa Hospital received 3,295 cases and Hatta Hospital received 1,112 cases during the 20 days of Ramadan.
Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, extended his appreciation to all the medical staff across the hospitals who work tirelessly to save lives and take care of the health of our community members.
Al Qatami said the hospitals follow international protocols and provide high-quality medical services particularly emergency care which is vital to save lives.
Al Qatami highlighted that in line with the DHA's strategic plan 2016-2021 and the support of its medical fraternity, the Authority aims to further expand its services across geographical areas to ensure enhanced access to healthcare and timely care.
The DHA is also keen to provide centres of excellence across various medical specialties.
