The Dubai Charity Association has distributed 5,000 clothes among 1,000 needy people during Eid Al Fitr.
The clothes, worth Dh253,000, included 1,500 kanduras, 3,500 abayas and dresses for girls along with shoes and other stuff, according to a top official.
Ahmad Mohammed Mismaar, secretary general of the association, said the feast clothes come under one of the charity initiatives for the low-income people during the holy month of Ramadan.
"The clothes distributed were meant to ease the suffering of the poor families and bring them happiness," he added. Official records show that the association has been carrying out the Iftar project in 28 countries worldwide. The project targets over 15,000 eligible indigent and low-income families locally and abroad.
"The pioneering scheme, which targets 15,000 eligible low income families locally and abroad, represents some 25 per cent of the charity project (Dh15million) during Ramadan.
"The project is being carried out in Belarus for the first time," he added.
The association was planning to collect and contribute Dh60 million in the Ramadan campaign this year in collaboration with strategic partners and philanthropists here.
