The speed limit on Sharjah's Maliha-Al Faya road has been increased to 100kmph from 80kmph, with a grace limit of 20kmph (120kmph) at which point the radar will capture motorists.
The radars will be functional as soon as the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah completes improvement works on the roads and streets.
The move was taken to achieve the strategic objectives of Sharjah Police HQ in the field of traffic safety and discipline, and the movement of traffic on the streets and highways by changing the radar speeds to deter and curb those who cross speed limits.
The Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police said the approval of radar speed limits comes as part of the comprehensive traffic safety strategy, adopted by the Sharjah Police, which is designed to improve the traffic safety standards in the emirate.
It also aims at practically activating the system by installing fixed and movable radars on the two roads to save lives and for the safety of the motorists and other road users.
