The Department of Traffic and Patrol at Abu Dhabi Police has announced it will ban trucks weighing more than two and half tons from entering into Abu Dhabi and Al Ain cities in rush hour periods during Ramadan from 7:30am to 9:30am, and from 1:30pm to 3:30pm respectively.
The move aims to ease traffic during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harethi, Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrol at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the traffic control would be tightened during Ramadan to prevent entry of trucks into Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, adding that trucks that violate the ban and enter the cities would be impounded for a week, drivers fined Dh1,000 and have eight black points on his license for the first offence, while the second time the truck would be impounded for two weeks, and the driver would be fined again and given more black points.
