A field of over 80 Emirati and expatriate amateur cyclists participated in Friday's inaugural Dubai Women's Tour 'Celebrating the Dubai Women's Tour 2020 Challenge Race'.
With a heavy morning fog settling in, Friday's race was contested over a revised 60 kilometer loop around Al Hamriyah in Sharjah, UAE.
Open to all amateur cyclists, the series is a celebration of cycling leading into the first-ever Women's-only professional cycling race in the Middle East - The Dubai Women's Tour.
Reminiscent of Race One's finish mere seconds separated the Open Female category which saw Samah Khaled (1:20:32) take line-honours ahead of Aoife Ryan (1:20:33) who nudged Annemiek Stegehuis (1:20:33) into third.
Alia Mohamed's time of 1:29:10 saw her secure UAE Amateur Female over Ghaya Al Mezri's time of 1:52:19.
In the Open Male category, a dramatic finish saw Vladimir Gusev (1:20:31) take victory over Mohammed Al Subaih (1:20:31) with Johan Hesselsoe (1:20:32) settling for third-place.
Ibrahim Al Falamzri (1:20:29) took the top podium place in the UAE Amateur Male where an intense battle took place between Mansoor Thani (1:20:31) and Ahmed Al Blooshi (1:20:31) where Thani grasped second and Al Blooshi third.
Split-seconds separated the top-5 UAE Professional Men (Clubs) riders which ultimately was won by Mohamed Al Mutaiwie (1:20:31) with Saeed Hassan (1:20:31) securing second-place, and Hamad Al Mahri (1:20:31) settling for the third-place spot on the podium.
