Dubai Ladies Club and the UAE Padel Association have signed a cooperation agreement to contribute to the promotion and development of padel tennis in the UAE. This agreement has been signed as part of the UAE Padel Association and Dubai Ladies Club's strategy to provide women with access to all types of sport in the UAE, and has led Dubai Ladies Club to become the first ladies club to practice this sport and establish tournaments for women.
The agreement was signed at Dubai Ladies Club in Jumeirah, Dubai, during a ceremony which was attended by Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwe'e, Second Vice President of the UAE Padel Association, Shamsa Saleh, CEO of Dubai Women Establishment, Lamia Abdulaziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club and Shamma Ali Al Ameri, Marketing Manager of the UAE Padel Association.
Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwe'e highlighted that this agreement was established under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council and sponsor of this sport, and Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Padel Association. Under these directives, the UAE Padel Association and Dubai Ladies Club are striving to enhance efforts in promoting and developing padel tennis in order to achieve the wise leadership's vision of providing Emirati women with the support they need to succeed in various fields including sports competitions.
Al Mutaiwe'e expressed his pride in collaborating with Dubai Ladies Club, which has a prestigious position in the community and is considered a pioneer due to its achievements. The Club has become a key centre for training and encouraging women to practice various sports. Al Mutaiwe'e said: "We're confident that the UAE Padel Association will add value to Dubai Ladies Club, providing specialised coaches to train women and help them to practice this sport, which suits all ages."
Al Mutaiwe'e said: "This agreement reflects the strong relationship between the Association and the Club. Dubai Ladies Club is a key advocate of this sport and we look forward to achieving significant goals following the signing of this agreement."
Lamia Abdulaziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club, expressed her gratitude to the UAE Padel Association, highlighting its ambitious plan which is aligned with Dubai Ladies Club's aspirations. These include providing the widest range of sports for ladies. She said: "We are pleased to be the first ladies club to offer padel tennis facilities in the country."
She emphasised that it is a responsibility to promote and increase participation in the sport, especially as padel tennis suits many of Dubai Ladies Club's requirements. These include privacy for women, ease with which the game's basic skills can be learned and the fact that its practice requires two participants, which ramps up excitement and spirits, whilst promoting community ties between those affiliated with the Club. Another added benefit is the ease of establishing specialised tournaments with the recent availability of fully equipped women's-only courts.
Shamma Ali Al Ameri, Marketing Manager of the UAE Padel Association, revealed that the agreement includes the introduction of modern padel tennis courts at Dubai Ladies Club, along with the establishment of periodic tournaments for women, and efforts to further improve Emirati girls' skills and their ability to play this universally and locally popular sport. The UAE Padel Association has worked faithfully to develop the women's skills in playing the sport, and hosts international and local tournaments which have contributed to spotlighting the game and increasing national and expatriate enthusiasm towards playing this sport.
The agreement with Dubai Ladies Club is designed to support female sports, particularly padel tennis, through increasing the number of participants in the sport and developing their skills.
