Advantage Motors entered the semifinals of the Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament after defeating Emrill Cricket Club by 86 runs on Monday night at Zabeel Park grounds,
The tournament is organized by the Dubai Cricket Council in association with, Dulsco Sports Club and supported by Cricketlovers.com and Multiplex International LLC.
After opting to bat first on winning the toss, Advantage Motors posted 233-7 in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Emrill for 147-8 in 20 overs. The victory helped Advantage Motors to top Group A and push Global Distribution to the second place. Both teams had won three games each but on a better average Advantage Motors booked the semifinal spot. The semifinals will be played on June 30 and July 1 with the final on July 2.
Advantage Motors' innings was built around knocks from Adnan Arif, Azhar Gul and Rinku Kumar. After opener Hafiz Afridi's cheap dismissal for four, Arif and Gul took the matters in their hand with a flurry of strokes all-round the wicket. Arif hammered seven sixes and two boundaries for his 34-ball 67 and Gul blasted four sixes and two fours for his 42 which came off 26 balls and laid a perfect foundation for Rinku to launch an attack on the rival bowlers. Rinku was destructive from the word go, blasting 79 off just 26 balls. He hit eight sixes and three fours to stay unbeaten on 79 as Advantage Motors put on a massive 233-7.
Emrill never found the momentum in the run chase and the result was on predictable lines. Though they played out their 20 overs, Emrill never looked threatening once they were reduced to 3-32 in the fifth over with Zahoor Farooqi picking two wickets.
Arif then broke the Emrill middle order with a burst of three wickets and later on walked away with the man of the match award. Indika Massalage (34) was the top scorer for Emrill, who ended on 147-8.
