A woman kidnapped by a gang of five after landing at an airport in Thailand has been released for a 10 million baht (Dh1.14m) ransom.
The 39-year-old Chinese woman, Jinchai Chen, had landed at Suvarnabhumi airport from Hong Kong at 9:30pm on May 6, as reported by Bangkok Post.
In a video which has gone viral, CCTV footage of the incident shows the victim being apprehended immediately after disembarking from the plane.
A woman has her arm linked in hers, accompanied by another man, and they escort her out of the airport and into a van.
Her husband, a man of Chinese and Korean descent, contacted police on May 18 after the kidnappers demanded 5 million baht more after he paid the first 10.
She was then moved around a few times to different locations before they finally let her go last Saturday on a road in Bangkok's Bang Na district at 11pm, according to police sources.
Police identified one Thai woman and four Chinese men, still at large, involved in the kidnapping.
More Thais are rumoured to have been in on the abduction, including a police sergeant.
Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the busiest in the world but has been plagued by security breaches.
