In a shocking incident, a massive sinkhole opened up at a construction site and swallowed three cars in China's Zhejiang Province.

A chilling CCTV video of the incident that happened in the early hours on 20 May, shows the ground caving in creating a 10-foot sinkhole and three cars going down the huge pit slowly.

According to ITV reports, two cars and a minivan were parked on the road just beside the dug-up cordoned off area. Suddenly, the ground crumbles dragging the vehicles and creating a huge splash.

A probe revealed that the cave-in occurred due to heavy rainfall the day before and no precautionary measures were taken at the site, ITV quoted Chinese authorities. Fortunately, no person was reported to sustain any injuries in the incident.

While according to Daily Mail report, construction work at the site has been put on hold temporarily and the company overseeing the work has been ordered to repair the damaged sewage pipes and compensate the vehicle owners.

Last month, a sinkhole as large as two football fields appeared on a farm near Rotorua on New Zealand's North Island.
