A Chinese social media influencer's 'glamorous lifestyle' was exposed by her angry landlord in a video which showed her filthy house to her 1.1 million followers.
Lisa Li is a popular figure on Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo and her account is a glossy catalogue of her travel adventures, parties and fine-dining experiences. But her celebrity-like image was shattered when her landlord, identified by local media as Chen, decided to teach her a lesson for ignoring her phone calls, BBC reports.
Chen gave a guided media tour of Li's filthy apartment littered with rubbish, stale food, and dog excrement, while millions of her followers watched in shock. According to reports in BBC, Chen told Pear Video that even professional cleaners had refused to clean the apartment located in northern city of Xi'an.
Chen also said that Li owed her thousands in unpaid utility bills, Chen said she had to contact police when she did not answer her phone calls. But after millions of people saw the footage, Li suddenly resurfaced and apologised to Chen in person. "Complete responsibility lies with me on this incident," Li told Chen.
Li also gave an explanation on news website The Paper regarding her absence and said that she had a tight schedule besides being hospitalized last week and then a business trip. She also stated that because of a large number of messages on mobile WeChat, she unintentionally missed her landlord's calls.
"I will clean now. I will even clean overnight," she told The Paper. Later a footage emerged showing Li sweeping dog excreta into a dustpan, making her a laughing stock online. More than 60,000 users have commented on her page, many saying they were unfollowing her and calling her a fake.
