A man was arrested by the Dubai Police for promoting drugs using GPS technology on Google Maps.
When the police asked for his documents for verification and the reason for the parking in the area, he attempted to escape and resisted the police officers who chased and arrested him. They spotted traces of white substances in the rear seat of the car, which was later identified as Shepo, a local narcotic, by anti-narcotics officers at the Dubai Police. They also found large quantities of crystal meth and heroin in cups packed in a carton in his possession.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed the drugs were given to him by a Pakistani man whom he had met in Hor Al Anz area. The accused said he received instructions from an unknown drug trafficker in Pakistan who would send him the locations to deliver drugs across various locations in Dubai and other emirates, sometimes 20 times per day. He would then dig the ground and place the cartons underground at the said locations.
On the day of the incident, he was doing the same at Umm Ramool area and was caught.
The suspect said that after placing the drug cartons he would call customers to send money via money transfer and then share the location and leave the area.
He also confessed that the gang used the technique to avoid being traced by police officials.
