A man who threatened to blackmail a colleague with compromising photos was given a six month jail term to be followed by deportation.
The 23-year-old Pakistani worker was identified in a note written by the victim before he committed suicide.
Court documents show that a Filipino man had hanged himself from a ceiling in the bathroom of his accommodation in Al Qusais in June, 2017.
His suicide note demanded that a certain person be arrested, referring to him only by his initials.
Police tracked down the defendant after checking the victim's contacts.
During his interrogation, the accused admitted that he had threatened to publish intimate photos of the victim with another man unless he bought him a smartphone.
He had obtained the photos from the victim's lover.
The accused had even sent the victim the same photos on WhatsApp as proof that he had them.
The ruling can be appealed.
