Trio assaults driver for 'intruding' into villa in Dubai

Dubai - The driver, 20, said he worked for a telecom provider and on the day of incident, he transported technicians to the villa.

Three brothers were charged at a Dubai court with aggravated assault leading to a permanent injury after they allegedly beat up a Pakistani driver. The victim was believed to have intruded into the trio's villa in Al Qusais.
The Court of First Instance heard how the three Emirati brothers, aged 33, 25 and 33, severely thrashed the man after they got surprised by him in their house, causing the victim to lose sight in one eye and leaving him with deep cuts in his head.
The incident took place on August 5 and a case was registered at Al Qusais police station.
The driver, 20, said he worked for a telecom provider and on the day of incident, he transported technicians to the villa.
"I dropped them and waited for them in the car. I wanted to go for prayers but they were late. I tried to call a technician to tell them that I would be away for a short time but I found I had no mobile credit.
"I went to the house and walked inside the backyard. I did not see that there was anything wrong in that as my colleagues were working inside and the door was open.
"The moment I stepped in and before I could shout out to my workmates, I was surprised by one of the brothers charging at me, grabbing my hand and slapping me several times. He did not even give me a chance to speak up," he recounted.
The victim told the prosecutor he was then wearing his work uniform, which has the company's logo.
The man then pulled him inside the majlis where he was joined by his two brothers in kicking and punching the victim.
"I was then hit with a solid object in the head. I passed out and woke up one week later at the hospital," the victim said.
He added he stayed at the intensive care unit for one week and lost sight in his left eye. He was left with deep cuts in his head and multiple bruises and injuries all over his body.
A police lieutenant said they were alerted about a man badly injured near a pickup around half past midnight on August 6. "When we tracked down his colleagues, they told us the victim was held up in a villa and beaten up. They said they were told to leave and had no idea about the reason the suspects assaulted the victim."
