Oman’s Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has also stopped cafés from serving drinks in baby bottles to customers as it is contrary to the country’s tradition and values.
An official from Oman’s PACP confirmed to Times of Oman that a café in Al Buraimi Governorate was stopped from providing drinks in baby bottles to customers.
This trend, which was increasingly becoming in the GCC, was ridiculed and condemned on the social media, prompting authorities to act against this practice.
On Saturday, the Dubai Economy also directed coffee shops to stop serving beverages in baby bottles because the practice is against "local customs" and violates the precautionary measures in place against the spread of Covid-19.
Dubai Economy inspectors summoned the cafes' representatives after videos and photos of the practice were posted on social media.
"Such use of baby bottles is not only against local culture and traditions, but the mishandling of the bottles during the filling could contribute to the spread of Covid-19," said the Dubai Economy.
