The 11th chapter of the Hankook Dubai 24 Hours 11th edition which will take place at the Dubai Autodrome from January 14-16 will see a record number of over 100 teams taking part.
Mohammed bin Sulayem, president of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE and FIA vice president, praised the record breaking participation in the edition, which will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, president of UAE National Olympic Committee.
ATCUAE, the official representative of the FIA, motorsport's world governing body, in the UAE is currently working with the Dubai Autodrome Motorsport Club (DAMC), the organisers of the 24-hour Dubai event to ensure a smooth running in the lead up to the event.
The first international endurance race of the new calendar year will mark the start of the 2016 season for the 24H Series. The 24H Dubai is one of the seven rounds in 2016, including the capacity grid with 100 competing teams in Dubai at the mid of this month.
Sulayem said: "We are pleased to welcome the 11th edition of Hankook 24 Hours race in Dubai. Having a record number of 400 entries participating at the event, with 100 competing teams is something that makes us very proud."
"The UAE is the hub for motorsport in the Middle East, and the FIA Homologated Dubai Autodrome has spearheaded Motorsport at both grassroot and International Levels. The whole team at Dubai Autodrome along with the Creventic team have, with the assistance of the ATCUAE, developed and established this event as the traditional season opener for international endurance racing, which is now firmly entrenched on the international motorsport calendar," Sulayem added.
"Last year was a successful year for our UAE based teams with Dragon Racing finishing third overall and A6-Am Class Winners, and Memac Ogilvy Duel Racing topping the A3T Class on their way to being crowned Inaugural 24H Series Champions. Both teams, as well as the Khalid Al Qubaisi led Abu Dhabi Racing Black Falcon team, twice overall winners of the event, will be hoping for success again this year and I wish them all the best." continued Sulayem.
"It is always impressive to see so many race cars on the circuit at the same time, and the paddock full of life, with over 1000 team personnel, drivers and officials playing their role during the course of the event. On behalf of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, I wish to welcome all competitors, officials, team members and spectators to the 2016 Hankook 24H Dubai, the Middle East's premier endurance race." he said.
