Abu Dhabi is hosting the World Cup for Jiu-Jitsu professionals, under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed as part of International Sports Exhibition at ADNEC. About 200 young fighters from the UAE and 100 rivals from different countries of the world including Bahrain, Jordan, Canada, US and China, competed in the first day of the tournament.
Shaikh Mohammed met UAE winners, and congratulated them on their victory and urged them to bring glory to the country.
The World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2012 draws more than 700 players of different weights and belts from over 50 countries competing for cash prizes worth Dh3.5 million.
World Cup for Jiu-Jitsu professionals culminates in Abu Dhabi after 20 tours of the world continents. The tour includes Britain, Portugal, Finland, Poland, Russia, Romania, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, US, Malaysia, China, Japan and South Africa. —
