The collection, titled ‘Jardin Secret’, comprises 11 Android handset models for women. The luxury phones were first unveiled in Dubai in November last year at an exclusive exhibition.
The Swiss designers have generously used 18-carat gold, white diamonds, hand-polished rose gold, sapphires, rubies, emeralds and other precious stones, crystals and ceramics in the masterpieces.
The price of the smartphone starts from €7,600 (Dh30,600) and the most expensive one is valued at €96,000 (Dh386,617). The most expensive piece among the lot is Black Insane, which has 75 rectangular baguette-cut diamonds set in an oval shaped crown on the top of the phone, says Yousef Al Khouri, CEO of Mohammed Rasool Khouri and Sons. The cheapest smartphone is the Blue Jean Ostrich at €7,600 a piece.
Conceived by Alessandro Savelli, an entrepreneur, Savelli is a new jewellery brand based in Geneva which he formed to merge technology with Swiss craftsmanship.
Alessandro, who visited Abu Dhabi in 1999 for the first time, said: “I wanted to create something totally new, never attempted before. A jewel of tomorrow, only for women. A design which would bring a new perspective on jewellery and in the luxury goods industry, an obsessive search for beautiful materials to work with. From Ultra-Bombe crystal sapphire to hi-tech ceramic.” He added: “We carefully select the best precious stones and set them using the ‘serti neige’ or ‘snow setting’ technique. Stones of differing diameters sit side-by-side, covering the precious metal to enhance the organic curves of each piece. Where baguette-cut stones are used, Savelli employs a seamless setting technique for an immaculate finish.”
In April 2014, Savelli launched two limited edition emerald smartphones in collaboration with Gemfields, the world’s leading gemstone company.
The Emerald Night, set with 400 brilliant-cut emeralds, is limited to 19 pieces and Emerald Insane, set with 4.5-carat baguette-cut emeralds and 12.5-carat brilliant-cut diamonds, is limited to just eight pieces.
