Dubai Digital Park (DDP) will open its door for companies from the first quarter of 2020 in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), said Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Zarooni, vice-chairman and CEO of the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority.
He said that the free zone will focus on the industries that follow the vision of the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and add value to the economy of the emirate. Located in the central section of DDP amongst the shops and restaurants are eight office buildings ranging from 4,000sqm to 6,000sqm, which will provide flexible office accommodation fully integrated with smart services.
"Many projects worth tens of millions of dirhams are currently under constructions, of which four new factories with huge investments are from technology sector. The number of industrial units reached 204 in DSO," Al Zarooni told reporters on the sidelines of a ground-breaking ceremony held for W Motors' automotive facility.
He said around 2,554 companies are active in Silicon Oasis and 81 per cent of them work in the field of technology.
Al Zarooni, however, noted that the rents in DSO remained stable in 2019 and didn't increase.Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), laid the foundation stone of the facility.
W Motors said production of all its vehicles will move to DSO.
including the limited series Fenyr SuperSport, upcoming new vehicles, electric and autonomous models, as well as all vehicles under the company's Special Projects Division.
Ralph Debbas, founder and CEO of W Motors, said the manufacturing facility is coming up with an investment of Dh370 million and spread over 120,000 sqft. With the first phase set for completion in 2020, the facility will house manufacturing division, design, engineering and research and development and training centre along with autonomous and technology development department.
