I agree with the letter Dubai-Sharjah commute is still long and tiring (KT, Sept 16), and would like to make a few suggestions.
First, there should be a bus top at Al Jubail for commuters to Dubai. At bus top at present is far from the residential area of Al Qasimia, and people have to cross busy roads from King Faisal Mosque to reach bus station. So, there is a need for a new bus stop near Al Jubail.
Second, a dedicated lane for public transport on the Al Etihad road would encourage more people to use buses and thus lessen traffic woes.
Also, authorities should explore widening lanes around Safeer mall area. Presently, it's a single lane road to Al Khan which often leads to heavy traffic.
