We all are aware of the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle that help to cut down the amount of waste we generate. Along with these, refusing to buy the items that we do not need is necessary, as pointed out in a column in KT (To save the planet, let's reduce, recycle, reuse and refuse). The waste generated by us is ruining the health of our planet, contributing to the pollution in our water bodies, increasing emissions of green-house gases. We ought to be aware of the resources we use and must know the detrimental impact on the environment and on us, if we misuse or overuse them.

Hence, along with the three Rs, refusing will help eliminate a lot of waste to begin with. It is simply about saying no and being thoughtful about the purchases. Resisting impulsive buying and looking into reusable alternatives will help us become more environment friendly.

Environment plays a pivotal part in our wellness. Our personal wellness is connected to the health of our surroundings. We therefore need to take substantial steps to ensure that it is well taken care of. Every small step is important to make the environment clean and healthy. It will help us enjoy an inspired living. -Jayashree Kulkarni, Abu Dhabi
