It is a kind suggestion to authorities to completely ban heavy vehicle (trucks and trailers) movements on the Dubai roads including the highways during the business reporting and returning hours (7am to 9.30am and 4pm to 8.30pm). It's not really someone's deliberate intention to commit an accident (15 students hurt as school bus collides with tanker in Dubai; KT, Sept 9) but things happen and mistake/negligence can take precious lives.
A real-time feasibility study has to be done on Dubai roads to seriously look at the number of trucks and trailers plying on the roads causing accidents, delays and huge traffic jams.
Maybe a pilot project by completely banning commercial heavy trucks and trailers on Al Hessa Road, Al Khail Road, roads leading to Business Bay, Ras Al Khor and Mohammed bin Zayed roads for a month and closely monitor the number of accidents and travel time will be of use. By reducing travel time, we also reduce carbon footprint targets.
