Newspapers have a vital role to play

I agree with the writer about the important role media, especially newspapers, play in our lives (KT for good: Together, we can make a difference; KT, Jan. 14). Despite the digital evolution, print media's importance has not lessened. Credibility is the currency of legitimate news sources. The media makes itself credible by being transparent, accurate reporting, paying attention to detail and holding the highest journalistic standards. Khaleej Times believes that good reporting gives voice to the voiceless and relentlessly tries to enhance the bond of trust between journalists and communities, providing a sense of ownership and accountability. It has been offering readers opportunities to respond to what they read, hear and see. And it is evolving to suit both the digital platforms and the world of abundant sources of information, following a pragmatic and realistic approach.
