Clean sweep for UAE in golf as the hosts win team gold and Rayan claims individual title

I am surprised to learn about an arbitrary action taken by a well renowned school in Dubai.
My son is in Year 6 and attends a school in Silicon Oasis that is part of a big education group. During the last trimester, the students were supposed to study geometry. However, the school has decided not to teach geometry to the year 6 students, and the authorities did not even inform the parents or the students about this. On questioning, the school reasoned that, "some kids were unable to cope."
This arbitrary action of reducing course content compromises with the quality of education and eventually with the careers decisions of students.
The course content for each year is decided well in advance and the schools are supposed to complete the curriculum any which way, whether during normal hours or opting for additional hours. This is a standard practice. If some students need additional support, either the schools or the parents or both take necessary steps to bring the students up to the mark. However, compromising with course content or removing modules and topics at will should not be accepted. --Arish Ehsan, Dubai
