In these days when the news stories seem so dark, I would like to share a little bit of light. Having lived in the UAE for over 20 years I have always thought our UAE police as being the best I have ever come across; the last six days have only cemented that belief. It may seem a small thing to many, (and I myself feel there are many worse crimes happening) but last week my motorcycle was stolen. It was indeed one of a kind, the first of that brand to be brought into the country. It was more of a sentimental loss as I have ridden my bikes across many countries, 20 years riding in Dubai, winter and summer, so when it was stolen, I was terribly upset and could not believe what had happened. The police and CID, worked to try and solve this case and for that I am most thankful.
I thought that the perpetrators would indeed be caught but I had given up hope on the bike. Yesterday evening I received a call from my local police station to tell me they had indeed found my bike. I rushed over and what will always stay with me was the happiness those 5 or 6 CID officers had on the faces, their joy was almost more than mine.their happiness came from returning what had been lost, no easy job to find a motorbike. I will probably never know how it was found and I don't care to know, I would just like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all those at Al Muraqqabat Police station for the amazing work, and to those other individuals who helped throughout, some are friends and some I do not know but all these kind people who make up the UAE, they are the reason I feel lucky to live in such a wonderful country. I would like to thank all the emergency services that work day and night, through weekends and holidays to keep us all safe and who are always there when we need them.
