Legatissimo built on her Classic success with another Group-1 glory after the three-year-old filly produced a potent turn of foot to land the 10-furlong Qatar Nassau Stakes (British Champions Series) Group-1 (Mares & Fillies) on a fats ground on the final day of Glorious Goodwood at Goodwood race course on Saturday.
Being narrowly thwarted on her last two runs, the brilliant Dunhill Dancer's daughter opened up more than two lengths winning margin in front of Wedding Vow under the strong drive of Wane Lordan.
Trained by David Wachman at Goolds Vross, Co Tipperary, the 1000 Guineas heroine was caught on the line by Qualify in the 2400m Investic Oaks Group-1 at Epsom early June, before being denied in her last start at Curragh by Diamondsandrubies in the Sea The Stars Pretty Polly Stakes Gr-1 (Mares & Fillies) late June.
However, cut at 2-1 for the Nassau, Legatissimo was travelling best after the fillies left the machine, and when asked to improve, she kicked away from the rest of the field to win comfortably.
The winning jockey said: "She's a very high-class filly and when I asked her to quicken she quickened up we1l. She has everything."
Meanwhile, Frankie Dettori claimed the festival's jockeys championship after the Italian veteran rode Magical Memory to victory in the Qatar Stewards' Cup (Heritage Handicap) to end up with a flying dismount in the parade ring. Magical Memory became the first three-year-old to win since Danetime in 1997.
Dettori said: "I've been waiting 28 years for this and have been beaten a few times in it. All the best horses were my side and I can't fault Magical Memory."
"It's incredible really, I thought it was a really good line-up and Frankie has given him a really good ride," Hills said. "He needed to improve from Newmarket, which he has done, and getting the draw right," Dettori added.
There was to be no triumphant farewell for Richard Hughes as Ninjago was back in the wash, while there was drama at the start with Algar Lad refusing to load, while Cam Hardie was unseated from Clear Spring shortly after the gates opened.
