A multi-specialty hospital has opened in the Capital to coincide with the National Day celebrations in the country.
Located on Airport Road, Universal Hospital has 200 beds and offers services in neurology, urology, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology and paediatrics, internal medicine, dental, ENT and surgical podiatry.
“We aim not just at curative medicine but emphasise on awareness and preventive care. To this regard, we shall involve in medical screening programmes and regular check-ups, especially of the high risk population in order to improve quality of care,” said managing director of the hospital Dr Shabeer Nellikode.
Elaborating on their specialist services, he said the Radiology Department has the latest equipment, including a multi-detector 128 slice CT scan and wide bore 1.5T MRI, while the Cardiac Lab is the most advanced in the region with dual plane imaging.
“With the 128 slice super-speed CT scan and true low dose algorithms, we should be able to offer screening for smokers and other chronic conditions with very low risk of radiation exposure.”
In-patient facility includes standard, VIP and Super Suite rooms.
“Universal Hospitals is committed to providing world-class patient care emphasising on both curative and preventive healthcare. Ensuring this is a team of proficient and experienced doctors, medical and non-mediath the latest technology and equipment,” said Nellikode, who is also a neurologist.
According to the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD), there currently exists a severe capacity gap in intensive and critical care medicine, emergency care, NICU, cardiology and psychiatry. Demand for healthcare services, associated with the prevention and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and neuropsychiatric conditions, are also expected to be particularly high. This demand for outpatient services is generally anticipated to be greater than that of inpatient services.
The opening of Universal Hospital offering specialist services is expected to meet the growing healthcare needs of the emirate’s population.
