Announcing the launch at a press conference held at Rotana Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Secretary-General of the Award Amal Abdulkadir Afifi said the award has achieved advanced levels in its previous editions honouring individuals and institutions both at home and abroad.
The current edition of the award will accept entries from educators from the UAE and the Arab world in 11 categories including public education, higher education in the UAE and the Arab World, special needs, creative knowledge networks, new media and education, education and sustainable environment, education and community service, educational research, projects and innovative educational programmes, educational authoring for children and written work based on scientific methodology.
The Khalifa Award for Education, named after the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was established in 2007 by the Decree No (6) to replace the Khalifa Award for Teachers.
The award seeks to improve the standards of national and regional education sector locally and in the Arab world by honouring and recognising the distinguished efforts and creativity of educators in the field of teaching and special education. —
