Lease contracts go paperless in Sharjah

Sharjah - Municipality announces that residents can complete process through its website

The Sharjah Municipality has announced its decision to stop dealing with paper documents for registration and renewal of lease contracts. Residents can now process all kinds of lease contracts through the municipality's website.
Thabet Al Tarifi, Director-General of the municipality, said that the decision comes as part of the civic body's plans for digital transformation of all its services under its "Sabek" digital project. It seeks to reduce the time and effort taken by the residents for availing of its services and to ensure highest levels of satisfaction.
"The move will help the municipality to complete a greater number of transactions. We are keen to continuously develop its system of work, and took advantage of the remote work system which was introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic to create opportunities for improvement and modernisation of various services," said Al Tarifi.
He pointed out that this step comes in line with the municipality's strategy in its transformation into becoming a paperless department by the end of the current year, relying on entirely on smart programs and digital technologies.
Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, assistant general manager of the Customer Service Department, explained that this service confirms the municipality's keenness to serve customers more effectively.
Al Suwaidi indicated that the customer can download the lease contract from the municipality's website and then complete the necessary procedures for renewal or certification in electronic form or through service centres or the rental regulation department in its various branches.
