Being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event is held this year under the theme: ‘Dubai, world city for government excellence – partnership and sharing knowledge for development’.
In his inaugural speech, Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, said the forum is also a good chance for government leaders to exchange viewpoints and experience on leadership, management, excellence, quality as well as customers and employees’ satisfaction.
“Since the formation of the nation, our leaders have made figure ‘One’ an iconic ambition.
Adding, Al Shaibani said figure ‘One’ means that excellence is not an end but just a means whereby Dubai is heading to its target. “Figure ‘One’ or top rank is critical in developing individual and corporate performance. The Dubai Government Excellence Programme now supports all government departments in view of targeted development according to the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, which is meant to enhance the emirate’s position locally and worldwide.”
The first session, billed ‘Partnership for development’, witnessed the presence of Lt-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa); Tayeb Abdulrahman Al Rais, General Secretary of Awqaf & Minors’ Affairs Foundation; and Khalifa bin Darai, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services. They all talked about the challenges hampering collaboration and how to boost partnership among various departments.
