Ahmed won the opening event, held in September, with a gross score 32 in Division A for under-16 players while Mahmood took the honours on a countback in Division B (under-12). The two are among the 25 players who have signed for the second round.
The league, presented by the Emirates Golf Federation, is open to young Emiratis who are enrolled with the National Junior Programme or members of the Development Programmes at different clubs in the UAE.
Introduced last year as part of the EGF’s drive to produce a future generation of champions, the league features five events spread over seven months with the grand finale taking place on April 2012.
The overall winner of the league will be invited to play in the Pepsi Junior Am, the season-ending event to be held in May 2012.
Saeed Albudoor, General Manager of the Emirates Golf Federation, said: “It’s good to see the league gain in popularity among the juniors as we have some new entries from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The important thing is that the players are enjoying the competition.
“I would like to thank the parents and all the clubs in the UAE for the success of the league which is aimed at grooming the talent from the grassroots level.”
