The lowest priced seating starts at Dh 20 for adults and Dh 10 for children, the Local Organising Committee of the FIFA Club World Cup announced on Monday. Tickets go on sale from Tuesday and the organisers have also introduced a cutting-edge ticketing system with barcode technology, making it easier for fans.
This is the second consecutive year that Abu Dhabi will be hosting the FIFA Club World Cup, which brings together the club champions from the six continents and the UAE domestic league champions as they battle it out for the honour of being named the Club World Champions. The tournament runs from December 8 to 18 and will be played at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium and Zayed Sports City.
UAE Pro-League champions Al Wahda will play the opening game on December 8. Al Wahda take on Hekari United in the play-off for the quarterfinals.
Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, President of the UAE’s Football Association, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmood, the General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Ko-ichiro Kato, FIFA Head of Club World Cups and Al Wahda FC’s coach Adenor Leonar Leonardo Bacchi and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) officially launched the FIFA Club World Cup at the Zayed Sports City on Monday.
For the first time in the UAE, barcode technology and e-tickets will be used for a sports event, making it easy for fans to choose, pay for and print their tickets.
Once they have purchased their tickets, they can print them off at home whenever they like or alternatively, they can have souvenir tickets delivered to them by courier. Tickets will contain unique barcodes, which will be scanned at the gate, allowing for increased security and management, the LOC said.
The LOC said that the ticketing strategy was to allow easy access, make it affordable, simple, quick and hassle free. The stadium seating has been divided into three categories of tickets available to purchase – 1, 2 and 3. For Matches 5 and 6 (Fifth place play-off), prices will start at Dh 195 and for Matches 7 (Third place play-off) and 8 (Final), they will be Dh 295 for category 1 adult tickets. There will also be discounted family tickets within each category, for all matches.
Fans can buy their tickets from www.FIFA.com/uae2010 or through the Call Centre on 800 FLASH (80035274) or +971-04-3662288 for international purchases.
Meanwhile, the LOC also announced a ‘Choose Your Champion campaign. The ‘Choose Your Champion’ campaign will profile the unique personality and character of each participating club.
