A total of 526 students studying in an Al Barsha school will be shifted to a bigger campus of its sister school in Nad Al Sheba for "logistical reasons".
American School of Creative Science (ASCS) in Al Barsha will be relocating its campus to the International School of Creative Science (ISCS) in Nad Al Sheba for the new academic year 2020-21 that begins in August, announced Bukhatir Education Advancement and Management International (Beam), the private operator of the schools.
In a statement, the Beam group said that "the move will ensure that the American-curriculum school will continue to be operated in its full comprehensive format".
ISCS Dubai, following a British curriculum since 2016, has the additional benefit of having a larger campus with state-of-the-art facilities.
KHDA okays move
The decision has been taken following close consultations with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), which oversees private education across Dubai.
Salah Bukhatir, chairman and CEO of Beam, said: "The decision to relocate the American School of Creative Science alongside its British sister school in Nad Al Sheba was made after careful consideration to meet the long-term needs of the learning community who would like to access either the British or American curriculum."
"For logistical reasons, it was deemed the most practical solution to bring two of our nearby schools together, sharing key expertise in educational leadership and pedagogy. This will further embed our vision of academic excellence underpinned by moral values. We are delighted to confirm that the American curriculum will be offered in full on the new campus from August 2020, with our staff relocating with their students to ensure continuity of learning. We have introduced a number of financial support measures to help our parent community transition to the new campus with ease."
He added that the relocation will ensure that ASCS will continue to evolve to meet the growing needs in the creative science schools community.
