Refugee students will now have access to a digital platform designed to create career awareness and develop soft skills, thanks to a UAE-based foundation.
Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) has partnered with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with the aim of providing skills-building workshops to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), asylum seekers, stateless people that will help them secure a better future - employment and improved livelihood.
The fund will offer refugee students access to its Al Ghurair Young Thinkers Programme (YTP), a bilingual platform designed to support Arab youth, helping them make well-informed education and career-related decisions. The platform is currently benefiting more than 20,000 users across the Arab region.
"This partnership confirms our common goals to serve, support and empower vulnerable youth and provide them with the necessary skills for their development to attain livelihoods," said Dr Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of AGFE.
Nadia Jbour, head of UNHCR office in the UAE, said the partnership reaffirms AGFE's commitment towards helping the young generation, especially during the pandemic. "We hope this programme will benefit the Arab youth, in particular those coming from war torn countries, towards enhancing their education and career paths," she said.
