A private elementary school in Dubai is closing down at the end of the academic year because of financial constraints triggered by Covid-19 pandemic.
The Rising School in Nad Al Sheba, which was in its third year of functioning, notified its parents in a letter about the closure of its operations on July 2, which will be the last working day of the school.
An executive from the institute told Khaleej Times that the "the school is unfortunately not open to enrollments for the next academic year". A teacher from the Rising School also confirmed the same.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai's education regulator, has also been aware of the planned closure.
The letter sent by the school to its parents said:
'We are obliged to notify you that we will cease the operations of the school by the end of this academic year 2019/2020, due to financial reasons resulting from the economic impact of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
"We sincerely thank you for your trust and the opportunity to serve you and your precious children, we apologise for the inconvenience this will cause in locating other schools.'
Earlier, the school posted an advertisement stating that admissions were open for the 2020-2021 academic year, and a 25 per cent discount was also offered on registration fees for the new students.
The Rising school that opened in 2017 was offering education from KG to Year 8 and was said to be the first American curriculum school in the Nad Al Sheba area
