A woman and two men were arrested by Dubai police after she falsely complained of being forced into prostitution, a court heard.
The Court of First Instance was told the Pakistani woman, 23, sought Al Qusais police's help in March, claiming that a compatriot, a 25-year-old vendor, was forcing her to work as a prostitute and drink alcohol.
"We learnt from Al Qusais police centre that she was a possible victim of human trafficking. She was later released after questioning," a police lieutenant from the human trafficking section, said.
In the investigation, the police learnt she was a regular guest at a hotel in Al Rafaa where she would drink alcohol. "There was a complaint registered against her in that matter. We learnt from a security guard at a night club in the hotel that she would always go there and drink as she pleased. In fact, she was at the hotel the night before she filed her complaint," the policeman said.
The police also received information that the woman had consensual sex with another Pakistani, a 28-year-old shipment worker. "After we summoned both, the worker confessed that he paid her to have sex at a hotel in Naif."
Police referred the woman to the public prosecution in April, on realising she was lying in her statement and that she consumed alcohol and worked willingly in prostitution. She later admitted to working as a prostitute for the first accused. The woman faced a prostitution charge in court while the two men were charged with having consensual sex out of wedlock. The first man has been charged, together with a runaway accomplice, with running a brothel in Al Qusais.
He is also accused of sexually exploiting the female defendant and other women at large.
