If you received a message containing links for pending court cases on SMS, watch out.
The Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) of the Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority (TRA), has issued a warning to UAE residents regarding suspicious SMS messages.
According to the authority, SMS messages containing links regarding pending court cases have been going viral. They state that pressing on the link will give people access to greater details on their court cases.
In reality, pressing on the link could give hackers access to your personal information on the mobile phone, or render you vulnerable to cyberattacks, and should be avoided at all costs, as per Al Bayan report.
The authority added that opening attachments from suspicious senders on email - or downloading software from unofficial sites - should also be avoided.
The aeCERT has been able to reduce the number of cyberattacks in the UAE by nearly 42 per cent this year, from 341 attacks in 2017 to 199.
