The Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi has rejected the appeal of a UAE lawyer, who had challenged a disciplinary sentence that suspended him from practising law for two months.
The public prosecution had referred the him to the Lawyers' Disciplinary Council for action following a complaint against him by his client. The client had accused the lawyer of failing to file his appeal against a conviction decision by the Court of First Instance within the specified time.
Court documents stated that the client said he had paid the lawyer the fee for appealing the decision, but he was surprised when the lawyer later informed him that the appeal was rejected because they didn't meet the deadline.
