According to prosecution records, the three defendants, all Emiratis, including a runaway, E.S., a jobless K.B., 29, and a fire fighter, I.A. 34, locked the complainant in E.S’s house in Al Qusais and physically assaulted him as he was not answering E.S.’s calls.
They all faced charges of illegal imprisonment and assault on others’ safety in the Court of First Instance.
The complainant, a 23-year-old employee, told the investigating prosecutor that he only knew K.B., and that E.S. had been harassing him with his constant calls even though they were not friends. He asked K.B. to tell E.S. to stop calling him.
The complainant said that K.B. lured him into accompanying him to E.S.’s house around 9pm on September 2 last year.
When they arrived, he was made to sit on a chair and they had a talk with him.
Then I.A. tossed an energy drink on his face and threw a wooden chair on his head.
I.A. tried to strangle the complainant with a rope but he managed to fight back. I.A. beat him up and assaulted him with a stun gun. The trio held the complainant in the room from 10pm till 4am during which he was taking their beatings as well as being forced to drink alcohol.
E.S. stole the complainant’s smart phone and Dh700 from his wallet. E.S. punched and assaulted him with a stick and knife while K.B. kicked him on his leg.
The complainant claimed he could not run away as the door was locked and the three accused surrounded him and kept beating him.
A police lieutenant said that the complainant reported the incident in person at Al Qusais Police Station on September 3 last year.
The officer quoted him as saying that E.S. was angry because the complainant did not want to go to his place and was ignoring his calls.
