According to prosecution records, the 18-year-old Pakistani student was insistent in his attempts to molest the Filipina. The prosecution also accused him of snatching her mobile phone worth over Dh2,500.

The complainant, a 41-year-old clerk, said the incident happened around 11pm on a street in Al Qusais in November last year. She was just done with her routine exercises in a nearby square and was walking home. She saw the accused staring at her and so she walked away from him. But he came very close and groped her thigh, and she pushed him away asking him to move away. But he did not listen and got even closer.

She then told him that she would call the police. As she took her mobile phone to call the police, he quickly snatched it from her hand and ran away.
